Our hands-on field experience in Belize with MarAlliance was one of the highlights of our National Geographic Student Expeditions (NGSE) trip. Even though it was not their favorite part, the students all took turns chopping up the bait for the baited remote underwater video (BRUV) setup. It led to some funny photos as well as an overall understanding of what marine biologists do and what research and monitoring entail. This photo story gives a behind the scenes look at the students and MarAlliance staff deploying a BRUV off the coast of Caye Caulker in Belize. Shot while teaching photography for NGSE in 2017.
